ANOTHER COUNTRY
Another Country was a major arts residency partnership project that took place in the village of Great Alne in Warwickshire in 2005-6. The project was initiated by Artists in Warwickshire Education (AWE) and delivered in partnership with Rugby Art Gallery and Museum (RAGM) and the Institute of International Visual Arts (inIVA).

The project took as its starting point the theme of Another Country and involved children from Great Alne Primary School, students at The Seymour Centre, the Pupil Reintegration Unit (PRU) based in the village and the community of Great Alne.

Artists Charlie Dark a writer, musician and DJ based in London and the founder of Blacktronica, Trevor Mathison a multi media artist based in London and a founder member of Black Audio Film Collective and Flow Motion, and Perveen Chohan a mixed media artist based in Warwickshire worked with the Great Alne community over a year long period.

These long term residencies brought together very different cultural worlds and explored responses to rural traditions through a range of contemporary arts practice. Throughout the project, the outcomes of this challenging and diverse rural arts project was extensively documented by artist Barbara Jones.
