CHARLIE DARK
Charlie is the founder of the global Blacktronica movement. Working in sound, text and music, Dark is a prominent writer, musician and DJ. Dark emerged as a sound artist from an ability to traverse and link each of his fields, seeing each medium both as a continuation and an exploration of harnessing different sonic forms into fixed states and environments, yet simultaneously melting through them. Dark draws upon the relationship between viewer and participant in his sound work as a consequence of his work as a workshop facilitator, established in successful collaborations from school children to older people. Recent work includes Freeness, Voyage 2005 an external sound walk as part of the London River Cultures Festival, Depth 2004 a site-specific soundscape in collaboration with leading architect David Adjaye within his installation lengthxwidthxheight; Urban Tribes 2005 and music consultant on the soundtrack of the BBC film, Bullet Boy 2004.
