ARTISTS IN WARWICKSHIRE EDUCATION (AWE)
AWE is a Warwickshire County Council service operating out of Education Partnerships and School Development in the Children Young People and Families directorate, available to all Warwickshire schools and their communities. AWE provides high quality creative learning experiences for both adults and children and works in partnership with performance and visual artists, galleries and arts organisations throughout the West Midlands and beyond. AWE promotes the arts as a vibrant means to extend and enhance learning, raise standards of achievement and provide cultural and spiritual enrichment. AWE encourages inclusion and intercultural understanding through the diversity of the arts, identifying artists from a wide range of art forms and cultural backgrounds. By working with artists whose practice encourages self-discovery to inspire and stretch the imagination, AWE aims to promote learning in many different ways. AWE provides continuing professional development for teachers and artists, offering support and advice for artist–led learning and celebrating children’s creativity through exhibitions, publications and public art projects.
